Daniel RafteryDaniel Raftery, PhD, MBA
Founder and Chief Scientific Officer

Daniel Raftery is the chief scientific officer and founder of Matrix-Bio. He invented the biomarker analysis methodology that forms the core of the company's technology. He has more than 20 years of experience in nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectrometry analysis, the gold standards for biomarker analysis. Dan is a Professor of Chemistry at Purdue University located in West Lafayette, Indiana. A graduate of Harvard College, he earned his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship with the National Science Foundation (NSF) and served as a postdoctoral scientist at the University of Pennsylvania. He has received numerous national and international awards and is widely published. At Purdue, he leads a team of over 20 researchers, and his academic program is supported by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the Department of Defense.


Eric G. Beier, MD, MBA
Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Eric Beier serves as the CEO of Matrix-Bio and as a member of the Matrix-Bio Board of Directors representing the Main Street Venture Fund.  Dr. Beier also serves as an Advisor to the Paladin Liberator Fund I, L.P.  In addition, Dr. Beier is the President of MedOptima, a physician revenue cycle management, practice management, and health care consulting company which he founded in 2005 and grew to serve physician clients in 14 specialties in 3 states.  Prior to MedOptima, Dr. Beier was the President of Professional Medical Billing, an emergency medicine billing company.  Dr. Beier also served as the Productline Manager for cardiovascular diagnostics and in the Medical Affairs group at Boehringer Mannheim Corporation, now a part of Roche Diagnostics.  Dr. Beier also practiced as an emergency physician at several hospitals in Northeast Indiana for four years.

Dr. Beier graduated summa cum laude from Hanover College with a Bachelor's of Arts in Chemistry and earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine.  He earned his Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Michigan. Dr. Beier is a Past President of the Indiana Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians, Founding Board Member and Past Board Chair of the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center, and Past Board Secretary for the Fort Wayne Medical Society.  Dr. Beier lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana with his wife, a pain management physician, and their two daughters.
