Daniel RafteryDaniel Raftery, PhD, MBA
Founder and Chief Scientific Officer

Daniel Raftery is the chief scientific officer and founder of Matrix-Bio. He invented the biomarker analysis methodology that forms the core of the company's technology. He has more than 20 years of experience in nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectrometry analysis, the gold standards for biomarker analysis. Dan is a Professor of Chemistry at Purdue University located in West Lafayette, Indiana. A graduate of Harvard College, he earned his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship with the National Science Foundation (NSF) and served as a postdoctoral scientist at the University of Pennsylvania. He has received numerous national and international awards and is widely published. At Purdue, he leads a team of over 20 researchers, and his academic program is supported by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the Department of Defense.


David Giddings
Corporate and Business Development

Mr. Giddings’ business career has been focused on information technology, healthcare, and life sciences businesses with both established and emerging publicly & privately held companies. He was with Eastman Kodak in General Management positions in Kodak's Commercial Imaging and Information Systems and Healthcare Groups in addition to serving at the Corporate Officer Level. In his career at Kodak he was VP and General Manager of Kodak Clinical Diagnostics; VP and General Manager of Printing and Publishing; VP and General Manager of Imaging and Information Systems. Mr. Giddings joined Boehringer Mannheim Corporation in 1991 as VP and General Manager of their Diagnostics Division and subsequently became President and COO of the company. He was appointed Chairman, President, and CEO of Diametrics Medical in 1995, a NASDAQ traded company, where he served for 6 years. Mr. Giddings joined Digilab LLC as its President and a shareholder in 2001. Significant assets from Digilab LLC were sold to Varian Inc. in the fall of 2004. Using proceeds from this sale Digilab restarted its operations as a “C Corp” in early 2006 with a focus on advanced technologies and systems and solutions for the Life Sciences research market. Digilab Inc has made several acquisitions and entered into several partnership agreements with well known leaders in the global life sciences research “tools” market. The centerpiece for Digilab’s business are market leading genomics, proteomics, liquid handling, and imaging systems/solutions which it acquired from Harvard Biosciences in December of 2007. Mr. Giddings served as Digilab Inc’s President & CEO until July, 2009, and remains an active shareholder in the company.
